This was a slightly annoying, yet fun part to experience in my process of buying a used car in Las Vegas. Seeing the tactics that some of these dealerships use with their sales staff was interesting.

It all starts after you are done testing drive cars and narrow your vehicle choices down. Once you sit down in the office at the used car lot in Las Vegas is when the fun begins! Of course the salesman is beginning the negotiation at the highest price (the sticker price) of whatever used car you are looking at buying.

I do not go in the first day and buy-doesn't matter if it's a car, truck, SUV, Jeep, or any other type of vehicle. I tell the dealership's salesman "No thanks, I'm just here to look." That alone is enough to get the dealer to get up and go to his manager, and come back with a lower price on the car. They may also say they can try to improve the auto loan as well based on how good or bad the credit score is on the report to possibly get a lower interest rate on the financing. The dealer at the used car lot is trying to get the customer emotionally involved in the deal to increase the chances of you buying that day.

After I tell them "No thanks. I still need to have a mechanic take a look at it." The dealer responds with the classic used car sales line of "Well, we're trying to earn your business today." That translates into "We want you to spend your money buying a car today."

In the process of me buying a used car in Las Vegas one auto dealership gave me a nice "reduced price" on a vehicle I was interested in. The dealer did not actually reduce the price. All the dealership did was remove two features on the car that equaled $1,100. The problem with the dealership's new price was that it was on reduced by $940. I was trying not to laugh in the dealership office when I was thinking in my head "How is this a better deal?"

It was humorous to see some of the sales tactics used at Las Vegas car lots by these dealers. I guess some people really do get sucked into a "new deal" like the one the dealer was trying to give me on the used car that I was looking at. I did not buy a vehicle that, and left the dealership. Tell me what you think about this part of my experience in buying a used car in Las Vegas, and if you have been through something similar when you were looking to buy a car.
