This was an option that was given to me as I was in the process of buying a used car in Las Vegas. Each dealer asked me if I wanted to trade in my old car while I was purchasing a new car at the dealership. Dealerships will typically offer to trade in your old used car, truck, van, jeep, or SUV while you are looking to buy another vehicle. I had not really thought about trading in my old Honda Accord. It had been having some issues lately that needed to be repaired by an auto shop. I had recently taken the car to a local Las Vegas mechanic, but my focus was more on buying another car instead of getting rid of my old vehicle.

I spoke with one sales rep a little more in depth about possibly trading in my old car. He said that based on the info I gave him that my car would probably go right to a Las Vegas used car auction and that they might sell my car for 500 to 1,000 dollars. He actually suggest that I sell my used car in Las Vegas on my own since I could probably get more money for it that way. My used car is worth under 3,000 dollars, so I was not going to hold my breath for a big fat check or anything.

I did decide to skip the option of doing a trade in for my old used car. It may have helped a little in the overall price of getting a used car deal in Las Vegas, but I think I'm better off selling the car myself. The main focus of the dealership is to sell you a new vehicle, not trade in old used cars for new ones. Each used car lot in Las Vegas that I went to asked me if I wanted to trade in my old vehicle, but I declined.
