Surprise! I’m doing a video on Monday this week because I had an idea to share an experience that I’m going through right now. I’m currently in the process of buying a used car in Las Vegas. My current car is one that I bought in California, so this will be my first official time buying an automobile in Las Vegas, Nevada.
I did a video a few months ago about when my car was stolen here in Las Vegas, but the police recovered my vehicle a few weeks later. My old car was fine for a few weeks afterward, but then I began having multiple issues with it, and it is now done. Since then I have tried a few different ways to replace my “old” used car with a “new” used car. At first I looked on Craigslist car section in Las Vegas. At first I felt it would be a good way to get a good car deal, but I ended up not going that route to buy a pre-owned car.
After that I was planning to buy a car from someone that I know in town, but the car required some new parts. I learned that working on a car can be a long process if you do not have the right parts for it. Looking for the parts around town at different auto parts stores, mechanic shops and junk yards took more hours of my time than I imagined it would. Even after finding the correct parts online, having to wait for shipping each day was adding to the cost of my U-Haul rental that I have been driving for weeks. Mechanics also discover new problems along the way when working on cars, which can mean having to look for even more parts each time it happens, making the process even longer.
Now I’m visiting several car dealerships and shopping at car lots in Las Vegas. The dealerships of course try to use sales tactics to get you take car deals on the spot, but I decided to walk away from the pressure. So far I have also had to shop around for auto loans. The dealership made me more than one offer on the interest rate that I could have for the car, but I again decided to wait and go visit a bank to see if I could get a lower rate for a used car loan.
Each day this week I’m going to upload a video about the process of buying a used car in Las Vegas, Nevada. I’ll talk about shopping for pre-owned cars, car deals at dealerships, auto loans, etc. so that hopefully others can learn from my car buying experience here in Vegas.
