Here is short checklist to use as a guide when you are planning a Vegas trip on :

Vegas weather this time of year:
Since we are in late December here in Las Vegas you can expect that the weather will be cold! It will be cold and dry all around town for New Year's Eve in Las Vegas

Vegas Travel Expenses: Hotel Rates, Room Accommodations, Flight Bookings
To travel to Las Vegas for New Year's Eve you can expect that your overall traveling costs to be VERY HIGH. This is arguably the most expensive time of year to be on a vacation in Las Vegas. So many people come because the strip is closed down, and we have almost a 10 minute firework display at midnight. Being in Vegas is a really popular way for a lot of people to bring in the new year!
New Year's Eve is an EXPENSIVE time of year to travel to Las Vegas

Is New Year's Eve a good time to bring kids on a Vegas family vacation?
If you are looking for a family friendly time to vacation in Vegas then I do not suggest New Year's Eve. I have been on the strip for new year's eve before. The strip becomes EXTREMELY CROWDED! One of the things about it that did really surprise were the amount of families I saw on the strip. I saw many families with small children, some with children in strollers. It surprised me because based on the volume of people on the strip, how congested it gets, and the party type of environment, I really did not expect to see that many young children. I saw a lot of families with young children on the strip for new year's eve, but I would not recommend new year's eve as a really family friendly time to have a family friendly vacation in Las Vegas.

Other Vegas travel tips to keep in mind:
New Year's Eve is a HUGE event on the calendar of Las Vegas tourism. It brings so many people to town to the point that the city shuts down the strip to any vehicle traffic because it gets INSANELY CROWDED. The hotels and casinos block off all access to their properties with barricades, so you must show your hotel room key to security just to be allowed on the property.
