It was my first official day as an Uber Las Vegas driver. I hit the road Monday morning around 10:15 AM. I was not sure what to expect at first. I turned the app on and I could see where I was on the map, but I could not see anyone who was looking for a ride. I figured I would just start driving and see if I get a notice on my phone to pick someone up. I got on the freeway to start heading toward Henderson, NV because the Uber Las Vegas app showed that there was some surge pricing taking place in Henderson, NV. Before I even arrived in Henderson, NV I received a notice that someone was looking for a ride! I accepted right away and used the app to navigate to the call.

My first ride was a lady staying at a Holiday Inn who needed a ride to the Las Vegas Convention Center. She was super nice, and we talked along the way about Uber Las Vegas being so new in town. My first ride was $18.98 and she tipped me $5 because she said she does it as a custom. After I dropped her off I gave her a 5 star rating and she gave me 5 stars as well. It was a good first trip!

After that I drove up Paradise Road for a few minutes and got a notice to pick someone up at Circus Circus. They were actually in the RV park. It was a couple who wanted to go to the Pawn Shop. It was only a 2 mile trip. I could not see the total amount on my phone, but the rider said the trip was $9.75. Either way I had done two quick trips and the app showed I had made about $20 for the day! I was excited to see how quickly I can make money doing Uber Las Vegas.

After I dropped off that couple I drove towards downtown because there was surge pricing taking place. Driving around downtown was a mess because there was a lot of cleanup from “Life is Beautiful” event that took place over the weekend. All of the construction made it difficult. I went back down Paradise road, and cut over to Las Vegas Blvd. near the Venetian. I drove all the way south of the Las Vegas sign, but got nothing. So after two really quick trips I got nothing for an hour, and decided to go home. It was a good first day driving just to get started with Uber Las Vegas and see the potential. I’m glad we finally have Uber in Las Vegas. I can’t wait to drive more and see how good of an income it can be!
