I know how it feels to be getting ready to move to a new state when there are some people close to you that are not as excited about it as you are. When I was getting ready to move to Las Vegas I did not tell very many people. I knew that if I did then I was going to have to endure some comments and possible criticisms from other people about my choice.

Your family and friends love, and they want what is best for you. However, just because someone is a friend or relative does not mean that they actually know what is best for you. Remember that the vast majority of people outside of Las Vegas know practically nothing about Las Vegas besides the strip. Most people have no clue what life is like outside of the tourist parts of the Las Vegas area. They don’t know about Henderson or North Las Vegas or any other communities in the area. A lot of people simply think that Vegas is just a place to come on vacation to gamble, and that living a “normal life” is not possible in Southern Nevada. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The problem that happens is not so much with you, but with the people in your life. Most people do not make a conscious decision about what they want to do with their life, and that includes choosing where you want to live. There is no shortage of people in the world who passively go through life simply accepting what comes their way. Some people are content to do that. I was not. Chances are that if you are watching this video that you are not happy either just staying stagnant in your life. You want something different. You may not know exactly what it is yet (that’s okay), but you know that you want to live a different and better life than the one you currently have. The reason it’s difficult for family and friends in your life to accept your choice to move to Las Vegas is because it means that they have to look at you differently. It means that you are aware of the fact that you want something else out of life, and that can make people around you uncomfortable. They may support you regardless, or they may nicely (or even not so nicely) question your decision. You don’t have to explain anything to anyone. You are living your life. You are not living the life of someone else. There may be times when people are telling you to “come home” and move back. Your new home is Las Vegas. It is the place that you chose to live. If you want to stay here, then Las Vegas will be your home. You only have one life to live, so if you want to move to Las Vegas from out of state, then I so go ahead and make the jump to change your life.
