Looking to buy a home in the Vegas or Henderson, NV area, but not sure which neighborhood is best for you? I know it can be difficult for those of you moving from out of state or out of the country. One thing that can help in your home buying search is to basically do an avatar of yourself and what is important to you in a place to live.
If you area 22 year old female moving to Las Vegas from Ohio, then you may want to live in the downtown area because of all of the action that takes place. You may like the fact that the downtown crowd is generally younger. There are also plenty of bars, restaurants, lounges and other places that are easy to walk to for going out with friends.
If you have a family that you are moving to Vegas from Seattle, Washington, then you may not want to live in downtown Vegas. You may think that it will be too congested with traffic and people. You might think that there won't be very many families downtown, and that it is not a great place for children to grow up. For you and your family, it may be much better to live in a place like Seven Hills in Henderson, NV. Seven Hills is well known for being a family friendly area that has community events like movie nights in the summer, and has several good schools in the area.
If you have a family then you may also like a place like Mountain's Edge or Summerlin, both of which are regarded as being great neighborhoods for raising children.
Let's say that you are someone who needs to live close to the strip for work. Then you may want to live in a place like Green Valley in Henderson, Southern Highlands or somewhere in the southwest so that you can be at the strip in about 10 or 15 minutes on either the 215 freeway or on I-15.
If you want to live a good distance away from the strip, away from downtown and away from a lot of the chaos, then you may like being in Providence in the Northwest part of Las Vegas or even out in Cadence in Henderson. Both neighborhoods are very quiet and peaceful, and are about a 30 minute drive to the strip.
Do what you can to narrow down what lifestyle options are important to you, and then refine your search to find areas in Southern Nevada like that.
