After reading comment after comment saying “never again”, we decided to find out for ourselves. We booked a sold-out MSC Virtuosa cruise to Norway at the start of the school holidays, expecting crowds, queues and chaos. What happened next genuinely surprised us.
Our cruise began with a 2½-hour embarkation queue, a tiny inside cabin, and a ship carrying almost 6,000 passengers. We thought this might become the cruise we regretted booking. But as the day went on, we started discovering something very different from what we’d been warned about.
