An Old Fashioned, some red lipstick and a black dress…sigh, there’s just something undeniable about a good ol’ classic. The beloved Vegas showgirl may be an endangered species these days (insert tear), but “VEGAS! THE SHOW” preserved those feather-clad beauties and the likes of an era when everything was flashier and dripping with sophistication. What’s that you ask? Can a show filled with gorgeous and talented women a la Rat Pack era really exist in the here and now? Oh yes my friend, it sure can and all we have to say is raise that curtain and let the good times roll. With a little song, a lot of dance and that certain sultry allure that only old timey Vegas could pull off, this is a trip down memory lane and, well, it’s pretty legit. The costumes are fun, funky, sexy and so real. Ok, well maybe not the candy-themed costumes but hell, their Sammy Davis Jr. sure had us pining for an autograph. For a city that was built on pure, raw talent and obviously dolla dolla bills, this show celebrates iconic moments from the city's rich entertainment history through the decades that made the Vegas we know and love today. And we’ll tip our top hats to that.

Silverton Casino Lodge is an off-Strip Las Vegas hotel-casino with a rustic lodge theme—think timber, stone, leather, and mountain-west style rather than mega-resort glitz. It’s at 3333 Blue Diamond Road (I-15 and Blue Diamond), about 5 miles south of the Strip and a short drive from Harry Reid International Airport.

It opened in 1994 as Boomtown Las Vegas, was rebranded Silverton in 1997, and later added a large Bass Pro Shops and a signature aquarium. A roughly $40 million hotel renovation (rooms reopened around 2023) and a later pool refresh gave it a boutique “rustic luxe” feel. It has about 300 rooms and suites.

Location and vibe
This is a locals-and-value alternative to the Strip: quieter, more compact, and easier to park. Guests often praise friendly staff, cleanliness after the remodel, and the fact that you can eat, gamble, shop, and swim without leaving the property. It’s not a mega-casino; the scale is mid-size and approachable. Pets are not allowed. Check-in is typically 3 p.m.; check-out is around 11 a.m. Complimentary self-parking and valet are standard, with EV charging on site. Hotel guests can use a free scheduled airport shuttle with 24-hour advance reservation.

Rooms
Rooms were redesigned in lodge-inspired collections such as Cowboy Kitsch, Refined Lodge, and Rustic Modern, plus suites (Luxe Lodge, Ranchero) and some Grand Terrace rooms with pool-facing balconies. Expect plush bedding, mini-fridges, in-room coffee (often Starbucks), and a boutique rather than generic-casino look. Reviews frequently mention comfortable beds and updated bathrooms.

Casino
The gaming floor is roughly 70,000–90,000 square feet, with a large slot and video-poker mix, table games (blackjack, craps, roulette, etc.), and a sportsbook. The atmosphere is casual compared with Strip mega-casinos.

Signature attraction: the aquarium
The standout is a 117,000-gallon saltwater aquarium near the lobby/casino, home to thousands of tropical fish plus stingrays and sharks. It is often called one of Las Vegas’s best free attractions. Live mermaid swims are a regular draw; stingray feedings are typically scheduled daily. Paid “Mermaid School” sessions let strong swimmers (including kids on select days) enter the tank in mermaid tails. The adjacent Mermaid Lounge overlooks the tank. Bass Pro Shops next door has additional freshwater displays.

Dining and bars
There are about 10 on-site restaurants and bars. Highlights include:
Twin Creeks Steakhouse** — award-winning steaks and a more upscale room
Mi Casa Grill Cantina (Mexican)
Su Casa Sushi
WuHu Noodle
Sundance Grill (casual, often long hours)
Johnny Rockets and Starbucks
Mermaid Lounge, Shady Grove Lounge (with a quirky Airstream mini-bowling setup), Flare Bar, and a pool bar

Wine Time and other social hours appear on the schedule.

Pool, fitness, and entertainment
The Swimmin’ Hole is the hotel guest pool deck: heated outdoor pool, hot tub, cabanas, fire pits, and a large LED screen for sports/movies. There is a 24-hour fitness center. Live music and concerts happen in lounges and the Veil Pavilion.

Shopping
A flagship Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World (about 165,000 square feet) is attached—boats, hunting/fishing gear, and extra aquariums. That’s unusual even by Vegas standards and is part of the lodge/outdoor identity.

Who it suits
Silverton works well if you want a quieter base near the airport and I-15, free parking, a self-contained stay, and something more distinctive than a generic off-Strip hotel—especially if the aquarium, mermaids, or Bass Pro Shop appeal. It’s less ideal if you want to walk the Strip or need a huge nightlife scene on property. Guest ratings on major sites are generally strong (often around 4.5/5 or 9/10), with praise for rooms, staff, and value, and occasional notes that it is not on the Strip.
