Brian is a local Las Vegas resident who moved to Las Vegas in 1979. He has been retired in Nevada since 2011. Brian's past work history was in the convention business, which kept him busy. In his retirement though Brian notes that there is plenty to do for retirees, and much of it is not on the strip.

There is a large retirement community in Las Vegas. Much of it do to the nice weather, the parks and recreation activities, volunteer opportunities, many churches to be involved in, etc.

If you are someone who loves to take advantage of Las Vegas' great weather to enjoy the outdoors then you want to look into retiring in Southern Nevada. We have mountains less than 40 minutes away. There are plenty of senior activities in the parks and recreation communities like basketball, tennis, hiking, biking, etc.

Brian also notes that being retired in Las Vegas is unique because there are over 3,500 restaurants in Las Vegas. If you want to try many different kinds of foods during your retirement then Vegas will never have a shortage of choices for you! Vegas already has many discounts for local residents in general, but it has been even more discounts for seniors as well.

Lastly, we talk about the cost of living. The homes in Las Vegas are very affordable overall. Combined with the fact that Nevada has no state income tax, and you can comfortably live in retirement on a modest budget in Las Vegas.

At the end of the interview Brian agrees that Las Vegas is in fact a great place to live in retirement, and would not want to live anywhere else.
