Las Vegas Chinatown restaurant destroyed in massive fire

A fire erupted inside a restaurant in Las Vegas' Chinatown neighborhood Friday morning and has continued to burn hours later.

Black smoke was first reported around 5:50 a.m. at the corner of Spring Mountain Road and Valley View Boulevard, said Clark County Deputy Fire Chief Kenny Holding.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy black smoke coming from the roof, Holding said. They checked inside and confirmed nobody was in the building.

The fire had started in the center and spread to the roof. Portions of the roof began to collapse, so crews pulled out of the building and shifted into a defensive position, he said.
