It is still pretty fresh in the mind of local Las Vegas residents how bad the job outlook was here amid a bad economy overall in the state of Nevada. The state led the country for several years in having the highest unemployment rate. Fortunately Nevada did add just over 20,000 jobs within the last few months. Even still, with unemployment sitting at 6.8%, which is higher than the national average, Las Vegas has some catching up to do.

The good news is that construction has been active over the past year or so here in the local Las Vegas economy. More homes are being built to go on the real estate market, and more money is being invested into the tourism market. Investments in both of these areas should be helpful to the Las Vegas local economy overall. I would expect Las Vegas 2016 to be a year of more stable and steady growth. It may take a couple more years of fairly minimal growth for Las Vegas to be on firm economic ground, but the economy is moving in the right direction.
