In this episode, Charlie splits up with his long-term girlfriend Chelsea, who moves out of his house. Plunged into heartbreak, Charlie stays cooped up at home drinking all day in low spirits. Unable to stand seeing him like this, Alan drags the depressed Charlie out to cheer him up.

Planning to visit a strip club to ease his sorrow, Charlie fails to find a parking spot and wanders into a church instead, where he meets the free-spirited Beth. Her easygoing personality is a stark contrast to the cautious Chelsea, quickly cheering Charlie up.

They hit it off instantly and impulsively drive to Las Vegas to get married. Charlie returns home excitedly to announce the wedding, only to face doubt and disapproval from everyone.

Soon he regrets breaking up with Chelsea and tries to reconcile, but gets turned down flatly. To make matters worse, Beth’s legal husband shows up unexpectedly. It turns out Beth is already married, rendering their hasty marriage invalid. Charlie’s impulsive stunt ends in complete failure.
