1. New Stadium-In 2020 Las Vegas will have a new stadium that is going to be home to the Oakland Raiders once they move to Sin City. A 65,000 seat state of the art sports facility complex’s completion will cost almost two billion dollars.
2. Space- 25 of the biggest 50 hotels on earth are in the Las Vegas Area (https://traveltoplist.com/largest-hotels-in-the-world/). One city has 50% of the fifty largest resort hotels in the world! Vegas also has over 150,000 rooms & suites, over 60,000 on Las Vegas Blvd. Vegas has tens of millions of square feet of convention space for Super Bowl Sunday.
3. Quality Hotels-Four Seasons, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Aria Sky Suites, Wynn and Encore, and Mandarin Oriental Hotel & Spa rated best in country (https://travel.usnews.com/Hotels/USA/)
4. Shopping-One of top shopping cities in U.S. Vegas has indoor and outdoor shopping malls & outlets. There are high end & luxury store options with name brand items for the affluent & discount places for those trying to stretch their dollar further to get the most value on vacation.
5. Amount of Food & Variety of Restaurants-There are many highly rated steakhouses & buffets, including some of the best in the world; also have a huge amount of ethnic food.
6. Entertainment Options-More than gambling-horseback riding, hiking, roller coaster, bungee jump, thrill rides, museums, exhibits, tours, shows, shooting range, paintball, operate heavy machinery, zombie shooting, abandoned ghost town, exotic car rental.
7. Kid friendly-Many family activities for toddlers, younger children & even teenagers. Circus acts on the strip at Circus Circus Hotel, Mermaids, Lion Habitat, arcades & amusement park.
8. Nightlife Options-Vegas has the best nightclubs, bars, lounges & strip clubs on the planet. Vegas is the nightlife capital of the world. Many of the gentlemen’s clubs operate 24 hours a day & there are multiple nightclubs open 7 days a week. There are certain alcoholic drinks you can only find in Vegas (http://mashable.com/2015/10/25/drinking-in-las-vegas/#r3vcmbu9SsqN).
9. Location-Las Vegas Metro Area (Henderson & North Las Vegas in Clark County) has 2 million people; Nevada-3 million people; Arizona-7 million people living there; Utah-3 million people; California-population of 40 million; New Mexico-2 million residents. Over 50 million people can easily drive to Las Vegas in one day. About 1 in every 6 or 7 U.S. citizens live within a short to moderate driving distance of Southern Nevada.
10. Weather-Early February is in the 60s or 70s. We have much better weather than some other Super Bowl sites like Minnesota, where the temperature in early February is below freezing at 26 degrees Fahrenheit!
11. Experience with big events-McCarran International Airport processes over 45 million passengers a year. The Strip gets over 42 million tourist visiting every year & is the most popular vacation destination in America. Vegas hosts numerous events ever year that bring hundreds of thousands of people to town-Consumer Electronic Show (CES), Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) & SEMA are annual events Vegas hosts. There are other special events & holidays that bring 100,000, 200,000, 300,000 or more to Las Vegas. Special events like boxing matches, UFC fights, Memorial Day, Labor Day & New Year’s Eve bring massive crowds.
12. International Exposure-Vegas is an internationally known city. Since the National Football League is attempting to expand its international presence, it would be wise to associate itself with a city that has as much global recognition as Las Vegas.
13. Logistics & Proximity-The airport is only a few miles from the center of the city, most of the amenities & fun things to do are on or near the strip. The stadium has a capacity of 65,000 people & we currently have over 60,000 hotel rooms just on the strip. There are more than enough rooms near the stadium that people can walk to the Super Bowl to watch the game. Las Vegas has the ability to handle the volume, traffic & grand-scale requirements necessary for a successful event as big as the Super Bowl.
I know that the Super Bowl for 2017 season is in Houston, Texas, 2018 is in Minneapolis, 2019 is in Atlanta, Georgia, 2020 in Miami, Florida, and 2021 is in Los Angeles, California. Starting in 2022 for Super Bowl LVI the new site every year on that Sunday needs to be in Las Vegas, Nevada!
