I finally sat down to watch Sin City (directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, with guest direction from Quentin Tarantino) and wow, this was not at all what I expected. I went in thinking it would be a super dark and heavy neo-noir, but instead I found myself laughing and just having a blast with how over-the-top and stylish it was.
The cast is stacked: Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Benicio Del Toro, Elijah Wood, and more all lean into the stylized world in their own unforgettable ways. The mix of gritty violence, comic-book visuals, and tongue-in-cheek delivery gave me a completely different viewing experience than I anticipated.
I'm curious if you're reaction was similar to mine or do most people take Sin City very seriously as a classic noir? I had a great time with it.
