Why Planet Hollywood is the Best Spot for a Friday Night!

Planet Hollywood Las Vegas is a mid-Strip casino resort owned by Caesars Entertainment, known for a Hollywood pop-culture theme, a convenient location, and a mix of concerts, shopping, and mid-range rooms rather than ultra-luxury polish.

It sits at 3667 South Las Vegas Boulevard in Paradise, Nevada, on the east side of the Strip at Harmon Avenue. Neighbors include Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe to the north and The Cosmopolitan to the south, with Bellagio’s fountains across the street. Miracle Mile Shops wraps around the casino like a horseshoe, so many guests enter through the mall rather than a grand standalone lobby.

History
The site has a long Strip pedigree. It began as the Tallyho Hotel in 1962, became the original Aladdin in 1966 (Elvis and Priscilla Presley were married there in 1967), closed in 1997, and was rebuilt as a new Aladdin that opened August 18, 2000. After bankruptcy and a sale, Planet Hollywood International and partners rebranded it as Planet Hollywood in 2007. Caesars (then Harrah’s) took ownership in 2010. Guest rooms were renovated in 2017.

Hotel
The 39-story tower has about 2,496 rooms and suites. Standard Ultra Hip rooms are around 450 square feet—relatively spacious for the center Strip—with modern décor, pops of color, mini-fridges, and decent bathrooms (often a shower plus soaking tub). Higher categories include Ultra Resort rooms and various suites with Strip, mountain, or resort views. Check-in is typically 4 p.m.; checkout is 11 a.m. A nightly resort fee applies.

Casino
The gaming floor is about 68,600 square feet, with roughly 890 slot machines and around 80 table games, plus a Caesars Sportsbook. The atmosphere is energetic and clubby rather than quiet or high-limit exclusive. Miracle Mile Shops surround much of the floor, which can make the property feel like a mall-casino hybrid.

Dining and shopping
On-property highlights include Gordon Ramsay Burger, Italian restaurant Caramella (Tao Group), P.F. Chang’s, Yolo’s Mexican Grill, Café Hollywood, and quick spots such as Pin-Up Pizza. Miracle Mile Shops adds a large enclosed mall with more restaurants and about 150 stores, so you can eat and shop without leaving the complex.

Entertainment and amenities
PH Live is a ~7,000-seat concert hall that has hosted residencies and tours by artists such as Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Shania Twain, and others. Smaller venues house Criss Angel MINDFREAK and Chippendales.

The Scene rooftop pool deck has seasonal pools, cabanas, and a FlowRider wave machine. There is also a Mandara spa and a fitness center. Pools can get crowded; lounge chairs are limited.

Who it suits
Planet Hollywood works well if you want a central walking location, attached shopping, concert tickets, and rooms that are larger than the price often suggests. It is flashier and louder than a quiet boutique hotel, and the mall-wrapped layout can feel confusing on first arrival. It is generally positioned as an upper-midrange, entertainment-focused Caesars property rather than a top-tier luxury resort.
