Venetian Las Vegas Saturday night HOT as usual

The Venetian Las Vegas is a massive Venice-themed luxury hotel-casino on the north-central Las Vegas Strip, at 3355 Las Vegas Blvd S. Combined with its attached sister property The Palazzo, it forms one of the largest hotel complexes in the world, with roughly 7,100 all-suite rooms.

It opened in May 1999 on the site of the demolished Sands Hotel, conceived by Sheldon Adelson after a honeymoon in Venice. Architects and artists studied the real city and imported materials such as Botticino marble and Verde St. Denis stone from the Italian Alps. Hand-painted frescoes, Baroque-style murals, and trompe-l’oeil details cover tens of thousands of square feet of ceilings and walls.

The exterior recreates famous Venetian landmarks: a Doge’s Palace façade, a replica of St. Mark’s Campanile, and a version of the Rialto Bridge. Outside sits a small lagoon with gondolas; inside, the Grand Canal Shoppes mall features indoor canals, cobblestone-style walkways, a painted-sky replica of St. Mark’s Square, and singing gondoliers.

Every guest room is a suite. Standard Luxury King or Two-Queen suites start at about 650 square feet—among the largest entry-level rooms on the Strip—with a sunken living area, wraparound sofa, floor-to-ceiling windows, marble bathroom with soaking tub and separate shower, and double vanities. A $1.5 billion renovation refreshed thousands of suites with a lighter, carnival-inspired palette of jewel tones, cream walls, and updated furnishings. Higher-category suites add media rooms, extra living space, or even in-room gyms.



The resort functions as a self-contained destination. It has a large casino (about 120,000 sq ft at The Venetian, plus Palazzo’s floor), extensive convention space, more than 30 restaurants (including spots from Thomas Keller, Wolfgang Puck, Emeril Lagasse, Tetsuya Wakuda, and others), high-end shopping, a Canyon Ranch spa, and multiple pool decks totaling several acres. Tao Beach operates as a lively dayclub. Madame Tussauds sits on property, and gondoliers operate both indoors and outdoors.

A pedestrian bridge connects the resort directly to Sphere, the nearby 17,600-seat immersive venue known for its wraparound LED exterior and interior. Guests staying at The Venetian have the closest access to Sphere shows.

The property is owned by Vici Properties and operated by Apollo Global Management after Las Vegas Sands sold it. It remains a Four-Star Forbes Travel Guide property and frequently ranks among the top hotels on the Strip for room size, dining variety, and spectacle. It is busy, theatrical, and unapologetically maximalist—Venice filtered through Las Vegas scale.
