The Stardust Hotel and Casino, opened in 1958, was a Las Vegas icon during its 1960s-1970s heyday, known for its massive neon sign, outer-space theme, and status as the world’s largest hotel with over 1,000 rooms. Popular for its vibrant casino, innovative sportsbook, and glamorous entertainment, it drew celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and Wayne Newton. The Lido de Paris revue, running from 1958 to 1991, was a highlight, alongside performances by Siegfried & Roy and Don Rickles. Dining options like William B’s Steakhouse and the Aku Aku Polynesian Restaurant, plus two large pools, added to its allure. Located at 3000 Las Vegas Boulevard, near the Riviera and Desert Inn, the Stardust was a Strip centerpiece until its 2006 closure and 2007 implosion. Its legacy endures at Resorts World and the Neon Museum. Subscribe to Talkin’ Vegas for more Vegas history!
