1963. Two college sweethearts, Steve and Elaine Wynn, get married with little more than ambition. Together, they help build Las Vegas into a luxury empire—creating The Mirage, Bellagio, and Wynn Las Vegas. By the 2000s, their fortune is worth billions. Then comes heartbreak. After 23 years of marriage, they divorce in 1986. Five years later, they do the unthinkable: they marry each other again in 1991. It doesn’t last. In 2010, they divorce a second time, setting off years of legal battles over Wynn Resorts stock worth more than $2 billion. Few couples build an empire together. Even fewer break it apart twice. In Las Vegas, the house usually wins. But sometimes, nobody does.
