Treasure Island Las Vegas (TI) opened in 1993 as Steve Wynn's roughly $450 million pirate megaresort, complete with a full-scale sinking warship, the free Battle of Buccaneer Bay show, and an 8,000-pound skull towering over the Strip. This documentary traces how MGM Mirage and later Phil Ruffin spent thirty years erasing the theme — cutting down the skull, swapping the pirate battle for Sirens of TI, and finally filling in the lagoon for a shopping mall — while Cirque du Soleil's Mystère became the only original attraction to survive. It's the story of how one of the loudest resorts on the Las Vegas Strip quietly de-themed itself into a two-letter name.
