NFL legend Emmitt Smith's restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip has abruptly closed.

The management group for Emmitt's Vegas confirmed the closure of the Fashion Show Mall dining destination and said it was evaluating a new path forward.

"As you know, this is a challenging time for the Las Vegas hospitality industry," the management group said in a statement provided to News 3. "While we don't have additional details to share just yet, we remain deeply grateful to our outstanding team and to the thousands of guests who have joined us since our opening."

Vital Vegas first reported that Emmitt's had been shuttered over tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid rent.

News 3 reached out to a publicist for Fashion Show Mall for comment but has not received a response.

Touted as serving American classics with a regional flair, Emmitt's Vegas was first announced back in 2021 and opened in February last year.

Smith played 15 seasons in the NFL as a running back and earned eight Pro Bowl nods, the 1993 regular season MVP award and the Super Bowl XXVIII MVP award. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
