This is a question I get from time to time about living in Las Vegas. If you have been following my videos for some time you know that I have talked about the cost of living in Las Vegas several times. However, I can see for someone that is thinking about moving to Las Vegas that they might wonder how expensive Las Vegas is. Most people outside of Las Vegas are only familiar with the strip, where the prices for everything are high. Many tourists take this to mean that Las Vegas must be an expensive place to live as well. The truth is that Las Vegas is a relatively cheap place to live.
Whether you think Las Vegas is a cheap or expensive place to live will largely depend on your perspective. If you're moving to Las Vegas from just about any other major city in America then you will be pleasantly surprised at the cost of living in Las Vegas. For an area of two million people, the cost of living is pretty good. Just about everything I paid for in the San Francisco Bay Area is much cheaper or about the same here in Las Vegas like rent, gas, food, insurance, taxes, etc. The only thing that has cost me more money here in Las Vegas is getting a haircut! For some reason it's much harder hear to find a place to cut your hair for less than $10. It's fine with me though because I will take that cost of living trade any day of the week! So, is Las Vegas a cheap or expensive place to live? I will say that it is a cheap place to live. You can live pretty comfortably in Las Vegas on a relatively low income.
