This is a question I get about living in Las Vegas from a lot of tourists that I come across around town. They will across "When you live here, do you just hang out on the strip?" They ask this because from a tourist perspective Las Vegas is the strip. That is what many tourists think of when they think about Vegas. It is difficult for them to really imagine living in Las Vegas to be anything more than a life on Las Vegas Blvd.

The answer to this question is "No" for the most part. The strip does offer local discounts to Las Vegas residents for restaurants, shows, nightclubs, lounges, swimming pools, etc. So as a local you do visit the strip on occasion. However, there are many, many options off of the strip as well where prices are much more normal than what you will see on the strip. Downtown Las Vegas is a popular destination for locals. Fremont Street East is easier to navigate, is not as overwhelming as the strip, and the prices are lower than what you will see on Las Vegas. Blvd.

Generally speaking, living in Las Vegas as a local does not mean that you will be spending a lot of time on the strip. When you live here you tend to have a different perspective of the strip than the tourists do, so you begin to explore options outside of Las Vegas Blvd.
