This was a topic that I wanted to touch on just because it stood out to me so much while I was at VidCon. Being someone in the online world I do work to keep up with technology (which is not easy!) because it can do a lot to improve our lives and improve our economy as a whole. For years I have heard other people on YouTube talk about technology and how it is going to affect the future of our global economy. I'm a supporter of technological advancement and welcome the changes that it brings to the world.

It was at VidCon that I really got to see first hand how different the future of our economy will be. This younger generation is growing up being able to effectively use online tools and resources that did not even exist just a few years ago. The younger generations uses these tools with complete ease, and you can just see how normal it is for them to use this technology. The youth today don't have to read a newspaper to get information when they can just look at what's trending on Twitter. They don't have to find a pay phone to call and wait for a taxi to pick them up when they can just use the Uber app on their phone and get picked up in minutes.

A lot of traditional jobs are going to disappear in the future of our economy. As the sharing economy grows there won't be the need for many jobs of the past. The technology that we have today, and will continue to develop, grants people so much more control and freedom over their lives. When I was speaking with an Uber driver he told me that he thinks the idea of having a "9 to 5" job will disappear. Why would you go to a designated building to work 40 or more hours a week when you can simply use your own personal vehicle to make money, work whatever number of hours you feel like, and deduct numerous expenses that you already incur for just having the vehicle? It won't make sense in the future to work a traditional job when you have more freedom as a contractor. If you need extra money you can just rent out an extra room (or sofa) in your apartment or house. It's an easy way to make extra money that does not require you to have to answer to anyone else.

With all of this change that the younger generations uses effortlessly, it will be interesting to see the impact it has on the world as they grow up and become members of the work force.
