In late April of 2015 Clark County finished the expansion project of the parking lot at the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign on South Las Vegas Blvd. After the $900,000 Clark County project was done, the area now has two traffic signals, two sets of marked crosswalks and 21 new parking spaces. The new parking lot now has more than double the number of spaces to park compared to before. Also, there is now a designed area for tour buses that bring large groups to the Las Vegas sign.

The expansion was done to help improve the safety of the area for people wanting to visit the Las Vegas Sign. Clark County Commissioner Mary Beth Scow felt the additions were necessary. It is estimated that 200 pedestrians and over 50,000 vehicles pass the iconic sign every day.

The changes will certainly make visiting the Las Vegas sign safer for pedestrians. Before the changes, people walking to the sign would have to illegally run across three lanes of traffic in order to reach it. So if you were concerned about the safety of being able to get to the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign on your Vegas vacation, you now know that the area has been much improved for the safety of those visiting.
