This tour was an absolute blast! It such a fun thing to do! I had never gotten to do anything like this before. I had been to the Hoover Dam tour at least a dozen years ago. However, getting to fly over the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon was a unique experience to say the least! The ride takes place in Boulder City, Nevada, about 35 minutes from Las Vegas Blvd. You can either drive yourself to the station or ride in a shuttle bus that the tour company provides. You do have to watch a safety video first after you check in. Once you are checked in you will be paired with a small group of people and your pilot. The helicopter holds the pilot, plus 6 passengers.

The entire tour lasts about an hour. The pilots are very knowledgeable about the Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon, and the history of the entire region. If you have any questions they are more than happy to answer them for you. The wind can be a bit rough at times, so you may experience some turbulence. However, these pilots commonly do 4-5 tours in one day, so they are very adept and being able to handle the conditions of the weather.

We did our helicopter ride during the daytime. However, there usually are options available to do a helicopter tour in the morning or at night as well.

When you land be sure to thank the pilot. They are able to receive tips, so I would strongly suggest tipping your pilot and the shuttle driver if you did take the shuttle.

All in all I definitely recommend this tour as something that is fun for everyone! This activity is great for families (although not for toddlers), couples, individuals, older people, younger people and anyone else. This is something that I recommend as a great thing to do on your Las Vegas vacation!
