Resorts World posted notice of security lead hotel room inspections, following the guidance of local law enforcement, during the DEFCON Black Hat Hacker convention. They’re coming under scrutiny from guests, social media and local news for what is being perceived by some as an invasion of privacy. What most may not realize is this has become standard practice since the Harvest 91 event in 2017. Even with a Do Not Disturb sign, a hotel is within its rights to briefly, visually inspect your room every 24 hours for safety, looking for suspicious activity. This isn’t exclusive to Vegas and also occurs at Disney properties and other major tourist destinations. These initiatives are typically done with support from local police and are increased during times where more security is advised.
