Democratic candidate for Governor Alexis Hill hosted the campaign’s third Data Center Town Hall, this time in Las Vegas, bringing together community organizations and Southern Nevada residents to discuss the growing state and national movement to increase regulation — and eliminate tax breaks — for data centers.
Hill said, “Local communities — including Reno and Boulder City — have built broad coalitions to fight back against data center projects that benefit from massive tax abatements and extremely little regulation. They deserve more guidance and resources from the state, and I am the only candidate for governor who is ready to fight side by side to end subsidies and require meaningful and significant community input and approval before projects are approved or move forward.”
Hill is joined by Boulder City resident Joseph H. Pomar-Webb and Sierra Club's Chris Halpin, an engineer who has been working in the energy efficiency industry since 1985.
Hill outlined her policies on data center tax incentives as well as AI and automation as part of her economic development plan, including Day One executive orders and priorities for the 2027 legislative session. Read more here: https://alexisfornevada.com/issues
