How I almost took Lenny Kravitz shopping.

I was working at Virgin Radio.

The producer didn't know I was on work experience.

"Take this recorder and interview Lenny Kravitz.

He is at the Rock Circus in the Trocadero"

When I arrived there were TV crews everywhere.

Lenny was standing there, naked chest, only covered by his leather jacket and guitar.

The questions were quite boring.

"How's your new album?"

"What do you think about London?"

I thought to myself:

"I'm here for entertainment. I better be more exciting!"

I put my hand up.

(I've never done anything like that before!)

"Lenny, are you going to go and buy a t-shirt while you're in London?"

He replied:

"You're so funny. You're gonna take me shopping? Where would you take me? Why don't you suggest?"

"Well, Carnaby Street around the corner, you know."

Then he started having a bit of fun with me.

All the journalists came up and put their microphones on me.

"Who are you? What's your name? Are you gonna take him shopping?"

The one thing I learned from this is:

Whatever feels right at the time, don't be afraid to be yourself and be a bit ditzy.

With Lenny, he literally had no clothes on.

And because I mentioned it, it broke the ice.

So, next time, go for that question that everyone's really thinking about.

You'd be surprised at the outcome.
