Cardinal Birds - Ukraine Matters (Official Lyric Video)

We wrote this song inspired by and in cooperation with the YouTube channel – @UkraineMatters
One day we received a message from the owner of the channel with the words: “Guys, hello! How do you feel about joining forces and helping #Ukraine? I heard about your last release #NAFOHymn and this song really struck me! Let's do a fundraiser together for #ZSU? And in honor of this, you will write an anthem for my channel!" We agreed and started working! Our band, Cardinal Birds & YouTube channel Ukraine Matters, with support of the @69thSniffingBrigade collected 27.056 Euros in 4 days, for which they subsequently purchased drones for the 110th brigade defending #Avdiivka.

We wrote the song quite quickly, it seemed to come to the three of us at the same time, out of thin air! We went to rehearsal, our drummer Max (Cech) showed four chords, and each of the participants began to add their own parts! The same thing happened with the lyrics of the song! Dee: “I have always been inspired by classic punk works such as Anarchy in the U.K. or London Calling and I decided to hammer these words into the listeners’ heads - I say UA and Ukraine Matters! I just made these phrases spin in a circle in every chorus!"

Recording, mixing and mastering took place at Duma Studios | KYÏV. The producer is well-known Alex J Kramer, who wrote and performed one of the guitar parts.

This is our country. This is our culture. This is our language. And from St. Sophia, to the Zaporozka Sich, from the deep seas to the high Carpathian mountains - let our beloved Ukraine bloom!
