Bellagio Las Vegas still the place to be on Saturday night

Bellagio is one of the defining luxury resorts on the Las Vegas Strip: an Italian-inspired hotel-casino built around an 8.5-acre lake, famous fountains, a glass-flower lobby, and a seasonal conservatory. It sits at the center of the Strip at 3600 S Las Vegas Boulevard, across from Paris Las Vegas and next to Caesars Palace and Cosmopolitan.

The look is Mediterranean rather than cartoon-theme-park Vegas. The curved main facade faces the lake; two hotel towers branch back in a Y-shape around a large central casino. The property opened on October 15, 1998, on the former Dunes site. Steve Wynn conceived it after a trip to Bellagio on Italy’s Lake Como, replacing an earlier “Beau Rivage” concept. Original construction cost about $1.6 billion. A Spa Tower opened in 2004. Blackstone now owns most of the real estate (with Realty Income holding a minority stake); MGM Resorts operates it under a long-term lease. It is also marketed in Marriott’s Luxury Collection.

There are 3,933 rooms and suites across two towers: the original 36-story Main Tower and the 33-story Spa Tower. Standard rooms are relatively large for the Strip (often around 510 square feet), with marble baths, soaking tubs, and separate showers. Fountain-view rooms are the most sought-after. The Spa Tower received a major ~$110 million redesign completed in 2024.

The signature sight is the Fountains of Bellagio. More than 1,200 nozzles in the lake shoot water as high as 460 feet, choreographed to music and lights. Shows typically run every 30 minutes in the afternoon and every 15 minutes at night (weather permitting). They are free and best viewed from the Strip sidewalk, pedestrian bridges, or fountain-facing restaurants.

Inside, the lobby ceiling is Dale Chihuly’s Fiori di Como, a vast installation of hand-blown glass flowers. Just beyond is the Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, a 14,000-square-foot indoor garden that is completely rebuilt several times a year. As of late September 2026 the fall display is “Casting Tranquility: Autumn Artistry.” It is free and open 24 hours.

The casino floor is about 156,000 square feet, with slots, table games, a well-known poker room, and a sportsbook. Dining is a major part of the identity: PRIME Steakhouse (Jean-Georges), LAGO, Spago, Le Cirque, Michael Mina, and newer high-profile spots such as Carbone Riviera (opened 2025 in the former Picasso space, with fountain views). Nightlife includes Bruno Mars’s Pinky Ring lounge. The resident show is Cirque du Soleil’s aquatic production O, performed in a custom theater around a 1.5-million-gallon pool.

Outside, five pools sit in an Italian courtyard with cypresses, fountains, and cabanas. There is a large spa and salon (the spa has been undergoing a major remodel), luxury shopping along Via Bellagio (Chanel, Prada, and similar), wedding chapels, extensive meeting space, and golf access. A free tram connects Bellagio with Aria and Park MGM.

Bellagio is crowded, expensive, and walk-heavy. It is not the flashiest new megaresort, but it remains the classic “grand hotel” version of Las Vegas: fountains out front, flowers overhead, and a more restrained Italian glamour than most of its neighbors.
